Lucky Lager Chalk Ware
This Chalkware was found about 7 years ago on Ebay from a woman in St. Louis. This is historically significant as Lucky Lager was started by a Grandson of the Busch family. Lucky Lager was founded in 1934 making this one of the first Lucky lager signs. It is lighted and the bottle is illuminated when turned on. The 1934 is actually carved into the chalk and it has been fully restored. What a beautiful sign!
Cherry 7 up Neon
1 in 6. There are very few signs that have the rarity of 1 in 6. Can you imagine the security of knowing that you own all 6 out of 6 of those signs? Now, what would it take for you to give up one of those signs? I was lucky enough to find out. A long time collector gave me the chance to tour their collection and buy some of the amazing pieces. Opening the double garage doors there were hundreds of new old stock neon signs in their boxes. Through the boxes and signs I saw a stack of 6 boxes from November 1988, opening the top box I saw a beautiful new old stock cherry 7up neon sign. I was immediately drawn to the beauty of the ruby red outline with the cherry design and stark white contrast of the 7up lettering but also its history.
In 1988 GHN Neon in Southern California was commissioned to design two different signs one for the Coca-Cola company a cherry coke sign. 7up also had a cherry 7 up neon made. When the company was done Coca-Cola and 7 up did not end up going with the design due to the higher price. In total they made 6 cherry 7up neons and 6 cherry coke neons. Looking down I saw that the stack was full of those signs. Knowing the rarity I had to ask if he was willing to part with one of them. After some conversation, we came to a happy agreement and the sign came home with me. With the promise of the cherry coke in the future.
